Mt Fuji (Fuji-san) is Japan's highest mountain at 3776 meters (12,388 
 feet) and is the most significant mountain in Japam. 
 The almost perfectly symmetrical cone of Mt Fuji is a famous icon of Japan 
 which is a frequent subject of Japanese art. Among them, Katsushika 
 Hokusai's '36 Views of Mt Fuji' and 'One Hundred Views of Mt Fuji' are the 
 most famous ones. Mt Fuji has appeared in Japanese literature throughout the 
 ages. The summit has been thought to be a sacred place since ancient times.
