Annecy (Haute-Savoie), France

Sitting on the northern shore of the lake of Annecy with a picturesque backdrop of mountains, the town is probably best known for hosting festivals, especially the International Festival of Animated Films each June.

Situated on the lake of Annecy, in the Aravis mountain range, the location is picturesque and breathtaking.  Known as the Venice of Savoie due to the medieval town centre which is built around a 14th Century Chateau being dissected by canals and streams from the fresh water lake.Annecy meets a number of differing needs. It is ideal for those seeking peace and tranquility but is also a hive of activity for those who require sporting activities and festivals.  It has a number of historical monuments, including the Palais de l'Isle - the "old prison".
