Vermont presents a group of oddities when it comes to being compared
with the rest of New England: it’s the only state to be landlocked and
existed as an independent country for fourteen years before joining the
United States. While the Vermont Republic may be no more, this state
still packs a very independent spirit and a feel that’s unique to the
rest of the region. Vermont is also the nation's leading maple syrup
producing state - so you can only imagine what the natural splendor of
this state is like. The Long Trail covers Vermont from south to north
and invites anybody and everybody to walk its length. If you prefer your
pursuits more urban in nature, you will enjoy spending time in
Montpelier, Brattleboro, and Burlington have plenty of attractions to
delight visitors. Come for the natural splendor that this great state
offers – and stay for the food and the culture!
